(Theme)  Time is always short.....

“Time is running out “(1 Corinthians 7:29). In reflective moments, we know time is always short. There is a story told of a holy Sufi, who asked what grace had brought him, said that he awoke each morning feeling he might not live till evening. His questioner objected that “everyone” knows that.  “Everyone knows it,” the Sufi agreed, “but not everyone feels it.” There’s a difference between knowing something and feeling it so much that it changes our lives.....

Although the Art Show doesn't officially start until next week I thought I would post an update. So far the comments I received have been very positive. I am delighted that people are enjoying my photos as much as I do. Besides the positive feedback I have also received some puzzled questions. People that know me have questioned as to why I choose to display photos of a particular individual. They seemed baffled as to why I choose them.  I know some will not understand why. As I said before I choose a particular theme and time period in my life I wanted to express. I wanted to convey a story, a message and my philosophy. The titles for each along with the one short story description depict all that I want to say. I don't mind discussing in person but I rather not go into more detail here. It is my hope that viewers will critically think about what I have said and what is displayed before coming to a snap judgment. Most casual viewers will simply take for face value an nothing more.


If you have read some of my previous blogs then maybe you have a sense of what kind of person i am anyway. Possible understand me more than my family ever will. It is a side of myself I have only shown a few people. Not because I am ashamed of who I am but rather that most aren't willing to sit down and really talk. That true open communication where both parties are actively listening and sharing of themselves. I would have these types of philosophical discussions with my dad all the time. It was truly amazing connection we had but I digress. Back to my point. 
This isn't just some random photograph collection.  It has a purpose even if I am the only one that will truly see and feel it.

After a long and grueling week of putting together my art display, I thought I needed to be rewarded to a big heaping scoop of Hair Spray! There is nothing like a musical to really bring the man out of you! 

I went through my extensive phone list of celebrities looking for a friend to attend Hair Spray with me. I was unable to find someone so I pulled out the little black book. I finally found a person that grudging decided to accept a free ticket. 
Of course she was disappointed to find out that she would be sitting next to me. After begging and pleading she finally accepted on the conditions I didn't speak to her and pretended to not know her! If if did speak i had to use her alias otherwise known as Kiki. I think it was her stripper name. When i asked if it was she said that would be another 200 dollar's for personal information. I only paid for 2 hours and couldn't afford any more so I may never know. I should have known when she told me to pick her up at John's house. I thought it was some crazy slang that kids nowadays use. 
The evening went well as far as I could tell. Every time I looked over to Gage a reaction i got a cold stare. I think she was just hiding her feelings. Of course I did get a weird feeling she didn't like me crying when Tracy went to jail. Musicals bring out the estrogen male in me. 

All in all, the musical was rocking. I can't wait until the next one. Of course that one requires a road trip to Florida. Once again I may reach for my little black books of names to find a partner in crime. Hopefully next time she won't charge as much.

WHETHER WE'RE AWARE of it or not, we human beings communicate 24 hours a day. Even in dreams we communicate. Even when we don't say anything we communicate. Our relationships are built or destroyed by communication - and there's virtually nothing else involved in a personal relationship except one form of communication or another. 

Throughout my life , I have both experienced and observed the destructive power of dishonest communication. When we lie, we destroy relationships - both the one we have with ourselves and those we have with others. Lying is counter communication. It erodes the very foundation of a relationship. It is a time bomb that will eventually destroy the relationship. 

To tell a lie weakens the already weak esteem of the lie- teller. The person to whom the lie is told, whether that person finds out the truth or not, feels the lie's effects. Why? Because lies are negative communications. They take away what is attempting to be built. The only true foundation a relationship can be built on is trust. So many relationships are falling apart because trust - if it was ever there - is being eroded. One more lie; one more time bomb. 

Then one day, ka-BOOM! Why? Because communication finally broke down beyond the point of no return. If relationships are communication with trust as their foundations, then honesty is the cornerstone. Dishonesty is a protective device. Lies are protective devices. Lies are told because the person telling them believes that he/she has no other choice. 
However, we're being two-faced if we tell someone that we love them - and then also lie to them. There can be noreal love without trust. We'd be protecting ourselves from the very person we need never fear. If we don't trust the person we say we love, how can we ever be intimate? How can we ever be vulnerable? And if we can't be intimate and vulnerable, what do we have but a lie? 

Lies are protective devices. We think we are protecting the other person when we lie, but in reality we are protecting ourselves. When we lie, we set the time bomb ticking, and the explosion will rip through the delicate fabric we attempt to weave between ourselves and someone else. 

Envision a gorge. The only thing connecting the two land masses is a bridge built by the hands of those who dare to risk. Isn't that the process two people take when they try to establish a friendship? Here are two entities wishing to connect. They put out furtive feelers at first. Then they get slightly bolder the more they feel they can trust. 

Each communication, no matter how conveyed, is one more plank in that bridge. The more honestly we communicate, the more we get to know one another, and the stronger the bridge gets. The more we get to know each other, the sooner we can lower the barriers of self protection. We almost always approach the others like knights in armor. Slowly we shake their hand, "checking for weapons" as in the days of old. Then slower yet, we raise the visor to get to "see" the other person. 

Why are we so armored? Probably because intimacy is so frightening to us. In reality, it is probably the single most frightening thing we face. The effect of being totally intimate is being totally naked - emotionally, psychically, and possibly even physically. It is to let every part of me connect or touch with every part of you. 

It is total vulnerability. Now I am totally defenseless. When we are defenseless, we fear that "now you will walk all over my unprotected guts with your cleats. You will hurt me in ways no other person could." 

It seems that what we cherish most, we chase away in so many creative, fearful ways. For every time we lie, hiding our "nakedness," we are telling the other person, "I don't trust you!" Not in so many words, of course, and that's another contributing cause to the downfall of that painstakingly built bridge between two people. After all, who trusts a bridge with loose or missing planks? 

We are so afraid of hurting others and of being hurt that we do the very thing that is guaranteed to destroy what we cherish. Every time we lie, overtly or covertly, we drive another nail into the coffin that will hold our dead relationship. 

The paradox of being totally naked, vulnerable and intimate is that we are also totally potent. In reality, we cannot hurt or be hurt unless we choose it. Being naked, vulnerable and intimate with someone else is first to say that we are totally naked, vulnerable and intimate with ourselves. 

That's the ultimate question: Do we trust ourselves or not? Do we trust that we can handle whatever comes up; or will we run scared, hiding in the tunnel of darkness that is laden with ignorance and fear? 

The decision, of course, is up to each one of us. How long are we willing to live the lie? Or will we defuse the time bomb that would otherwise destroy us and those we love? 


A friend is one before whom I may think aloud.

I wanted to post two articles about lying. I thought alot about a conversation i had with someone recently. It didn't make sense what they were telling me. Then i realized, i didn't understand because i was being lied to. At that point i had a choice to make. I could to pretend it didn't matter and exercise forgiveness as i had so many times in the past. Or i could remove myself from the destructive behavior. Actions speak louder than words. If i can't trust you then i don't want to be around you. These articles sum up exactly how i feel. 

Why do people lie? Have you ever thought about it? 
We lie because we do not trust a person around us with the truth. 
For what ever reason. 

I lie because I do not care about your feelings. 
I would rather lie to you than be honest. 
I am afraid the truth might hurt you. 
If I tell you the truth you might hurt me. 
I am more important than you are. 
What I want is more important than what we want. 
What I want is more important than what you want. 

Do you want to spend your life with someone you cannot trust to be truthful with you? What happens to a marriage when one spouse lies? Can you trust someone when you know they are telling you lies? 

A person that lies stands for nothing! Their words mean nothing! A person who lies to look better does not accomplish that task, ever. A person who will lie with words also lies in actions. When someone does not keep their word they live a lie. 

Actions speak louder than words. 
All relationships in life; Let me repeat - All relationships in life work out best if they are based upon a foundation of honesty, trust, respect and loyalty. The relationship is not strong if two people come together to live their own lives without regard to the values of the other person in their life. You protect those you love. You want the best for them. You want them to be their best. 
We make sure they are taken care of it they are sick or hurt. We make sure they have a roof over their head. We make sure they are happy. We make sure that we think of them and how they feel before we do anything. And it is even better still with they do the same for us. 
When we love someone and they love us, they will do whatever it takes to make the relationship work. 

Is telling a lie to someone in the best interest of the relationship? What will that person do when they find out the truth? Will they take it harder knowing you lied about it in the first place? Will the person you lie to trust or respect you any more? Will they love you all the more for lying to them? 

If you love someone, you do not want to hurt them. You would do anything to make them happy. Why would you lie and risk losing the trust you have built up in your relationship with anyone? 

When you love someone you treat him or her with respect. You are honest. 
You talk to them and make plans for the future together. You care about their well-being. You do whatever it takes to make that person happy! That special person will do the same for you. 

If you find something else is more important to you than that person then you risk that person walking out of your life and finding someone who is worthy of the total commitment they want to have with you. 
That special love that spans an entire lifetime is there for any relationship that is based on honesty, respect and other wonderful qualities we should all have. You love someone unconditionally. You can love someone who lies to you... but trust will always be an issue. 
It may take a lifetime to work out the bugs in a relationship. Two people can commit to one another for a lifetime. Have you ever stopped to think about what that means? 
This is the most important person in my life and I will treat this person that way for the rest of my life. 

I cannot think of a single person in the world that likes being lied to. Not one. I cannot think of a single person in the world I respect after they have lied to me. I found out that I am not alone. I do not trust people that lie to me. Nor do I trust anyone that lies to others. If they will lie to a friend of mine they will lie to me. 
Love trusts. Lies break that trust. Lies destroy the relationship. 

They are destructive and serve no good purpose. Lies just have no place in any relationship that a person has and values. It breaks the trust , but it also hurts to think that someone you love so much wants to hurt you like that. 
You forgive them, but you don’t trust them and you still hurt. Lies and excuses take a conscious effort to pull off. You have to think up a lie, but the truth rolls off the tongue. You may think you will hurt someone you love with the truth, but that hurt is nothing compared to what a lie can do to someone you love. 
If he will lie about that, what else will he lie about? If she will lie about this what else is she lying about? What can I believe? How can I go through life not knowing what to believe? 
Do I just blindly believe what I am being told and then act surprised when the truth comes out? 

A lie shakes your reality and destroys trust. 
That could be why Actions speak louder than words.
